Who IWD is and what RA Offers:

Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) is a state agency committed to providing employment services for Iowa employers and job seekers. IWD supports Registered Apprenticeships (RA) by establishing new and support existing apprenticeship programs across Iowa. RA programs generate employment talent pipelines for employers via the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Apprenticeship. Apprentices participate in On-the-Job-Training (OJT) and Related Training Instruction (RTI) while employed to earn a national credential. More than 1,500 occupations qualify to become an apprenticeship. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, there is a 92% employee retention rate following apprenticeship completion. Registered Apprenticeship is a solution to the workforce shortage because it creates a viable talent pipeline for employers to not only fill jobs, but simultaneously prepare workers to meet the workforce needs of the future.
